About Fresh Headies' Bubble Bags
Bubble Bags® are the original nested-bag water extraction system, created by Marcus "Bubbleman" Richardson in 1999: ice, water and no chemicals.
Our story
Marcus Richardson, known as "The Bubbleman," grew up in Manitoba and has been a hemp activist and entrepreneur since 1993. In 1994 he and partners started Hemp Seeds Unlimited, importing seed from Ukraine. Health Canada licensed his hemp field in 1995, the first legal hemp field in Manitoba in over 73 years. In 1996 he moved to British Columbia to grow for the BC Compassion Club Society, which supplies cannabis and natural therapies to patients.
In 1999 he founded Fresh Headies Ltd. and developed Bubble Bags: a safe, compact, portable set of nested bags with filter screens that separates trichome heads into grades using only ice and water. Championed early by the medicinal community, the extract became known as "bubble."
The first Bubble Bags, in 1999, were sewn by Marcus's wife, Charlene. In 2000, Mark Rose, who ran ACME Nepal and was already manufacturing bags from his home in Kathmandu, reached out after seeing Marcus's Bubble Bag ads in magazines and online. They met in Amsterdam, and Mark asked to be a partner rather than just a manufacturer. From 2000 on he made all of our bags, and he helped shape the screen sizes and the design of Bubble Bags. On September 27, 2026, Marcus shared the news of Mark's passing on Hash Church, remembering a longtime partner and dear friend and celebrating their work together.
Our roots are in Vancouver retail. Bubble Bags and Marcus's other ventures grew from vapour bars and a raw food restaurant, and today include terpene and extract businesses in Canada and abroad.
I built Bubble Bags to give people a safe, compact way to separate trichome heads with nothing but ice and water. The slogan came from a chance meeting on a staircase in Amsterdam in 1997: if it don't bubble, it ain't worth the trouble. Every bag we make is held to that standard.

What sets Bubble Bags apart
Fresh Headies created the first 3, 4 and 8 bag kits. Eight bags separate your extract into eight grades, from 220 down to 25 microns, so you keep the best material whatever the size of your plant's trichome heads.
- Monofilament screens. Our screens are monofilament mesh sourced specifically for the highest quality from the Netherlands, heat-stamped so the fibres stay put and the pore size stays consistent. Many manufacturers who followed Bubble Bags’ success use nylon for the mesh itself; we don’t.
- Strong, waterproof sidewalls. highest thread-count nylon available on the market, with a waterproof coating that is PVC-free.
-
Built to last. Stitched with 100% nylon bonded thread and made for hundreds of uses, backed by our Lifespan Warranty against defects.
Choose genuine Bubble Bags
Many others have copied our brand colours, so a look-alike is not a Bubble Bag. Here is how to tell:
- Check the specs. Genuine Bubble Bags use monofilament mesh from the Netherlands, waterproof nylon sidewalls (800 or 400 thread count) with a PVC-free coating, and triple stitching.
- Buy from a source you can verify. Order at bubblebag.com, or call 604-254-3338 or email info@bubblebag.com to share some images so we can check for you.
- Keep your order confirmation. Our Lifespan Warranty covers defects in genuine Bubble Bags, and we need proof of purchase to process a claim.
